This is a nice clear image of Soule wearing his officer’s frock. This is a waist up view. Mount has had corners clipped and Attica, NY photographer’s name printed along bottom edge. Soule signed the bottom front in ink and wrote “64th N.Y. Vols” in ink on reverse.
Charles Soule enlisted at Attica, NY as a private. He was mustered in on December 10, 1861 to Company K, 64th NY infantry. He was promoted to lieutenant in May of 1862. He was wounded on July 2, 1863 at Gettysburg. The regiment was engaged in the Wheatfield area and their monument is on Brooke Avenue overlooking the Rose Farm. He was discharged on July 7, 1864.
