This bayonet originally appeared for sale in Horse Soldier Catalog #24.

Bayonet is complete with a frozen locking ring. The surface of the bayonet has light rust and pitting. One side of the socket has whitewash residue but overall the bayonet has a nice dark patina.

With the item is a shield shaped wooden base that meas. approx. 5.50 x 5.50 inches. On its face is a dark metal plaque with a laurel leaf border. The plaque is held to the wood base by three rosette tacks. Face is engraved with “BRITISH PATTERN 1853 ENFIELD BAYONET REC. REYNOLDS’ WOODS SITE OF FIRST DAY BATTLE GETTYSBURG JULY 1, 1863.”  [ad] [ph:m]
