Volume is hardcover and meas. approx. 6.50 x 9.75 inches. Stippled cloth covers are a faded maroon with embossed spread-winged eagle surrounded by the embossed title “SOLDIERS NATIONAL CEMETERY GETTTYSBURG.” Title is also embossed on spine in large gold lettering. Covers are in very nice, clean condition. Volume runs approx. 212 pages.
Interior is clean and tight. Folding map is present. Pages have light discoloration from age.
The volume contains a report on the founding of the Soldier’s National Cemetery at Gettysburg as well as an interesting section listing items found in the pockets of the dead when they were dug up and reinterred on in the Gettysburg Soldiers National Cemetery.
What makes this particular copy unusual is that the cover was put on upside down. [ad] [ph:L]
