Excavated eagle “I” button, a Union infantry officer’s button in good condition. Coat size (23mm) with bent shank. 80% gilt remains with a few small spots of verdigris. Brown patina on rest is clean and smooth. A worn Horstmann & Allien backmark. Recovered from Little Round Top.

From the collection of Ron Miller, brother of noted Gettysburg relic hunter Ed Miller. Ron was born in Gettysburg and was a teacher by profession. He walked and hunted the surrounding farm fields his entire life in search of relics. He was a member of the Adams County Historical Society and the Lincoln Fellowship of Pennsylvania. [jet] [ph:L]
