And all he got to show for it was this small wooden cannon. It measures 4 inches by 2 inches and is 2.5 inches high at the mouth of the cannon. The top of the cannon barrel reads “Gettysburg, Pa. / July 1,2,3, 1863,” although, the 6 and 3 are badly faded. The coolest part of this little souvenir is the bottom of the base. It reads in pencil: “Elmer / visited / Nov 21 1948.” A true Gettysburg souvenir! [cla] [ph:L]
