Empty letter envelope. Plain letter envelope with cancelled Jeff Davis postage stamp.  A green, ten-cent Jefferson Davis stamp is pasted in upper right corner. The stamp has Richmond cancellation.

Envelope is addressed in ink to “Dr. B.H. Hoyt / 45th Regt, Wheaton / Divis, Breckingridges Corps”.  Barzillas H. Hoyt was a surgeon in the 45th Virginia Infantry at the end of the war. The 45th served mostly in Western Virginia and in the Valley towards the end of the war.

Envelope is in good, used condition…envelope only, no letter. [jet] [ph:L]
