Isaac Dyer was commissioned Lieut. Col. into Field & Staff, 15th Maine Inf. 12/17/1861, promoted regimental colonel, 8/26/1862, and then Bvt. Brig. Genl., 3/13/1865. Discharged 9/13/1865. His unit, the 15th Maine, was dispatched early to the Dept. of the Gulf and participated in the 1864 Red River Campaign and the Battle of Sabine Pass. Transferred east, the 15th Maine was present with the 18th Corps at Bermuda One Hundred. During service it lost 5 men killed and 343 by disease for a total of 348.
