This is a leather shoulder sling designed for use with Civil War muskets.
The sling has a fixed leather loop sewn to one end and a brass hook on the other, which is mounted under a sewn down flap. The hook engaged one of holes along the length of the sling, which allowed the length to be adjusted. There is also a sliding leather loop remaining. The sling is approximately 56” long overall including the brass hook, and 1.2” wide.
This original musket sling is in very good, used condition. Black leather with tooled edges; no maker’s marks. The sewn loop on the end is split and has some broken stitching. There are swivel “creases” visible showing where this was mounted on a musket at one time. Leather is pliable and could be put onto a musket again. [jet][ph:L]
