This is a Civil War-era percussion cap pouch. The leather shows moderate wear with some breaks. This pattern has the closing tab as a continuation of the outer flap. This latch tab is broken at the finial hole. The interior flap has both “ears” firmly sewn in place. A bold maker’s stamp is visible, “LONGLEY & CO. LEWISTON, ME. 1863”. No fleece remains and there is no pick. Bottom has brass finial. Both narrow belt loops remain on back (one broken at top) and are stitched and riveted in place. All stitching remains strong and unbroken. Very good condition overall.
A Civil War cap pouch from rarely seen maker. [jet] [ph:L]
