Ebony, brass and bone sextant is complete with all the original mirrors and filters.

Ebony wood frame has brass index arm with engraved bone scales, sighting pinnula, horizon mirror, and three shades.

The sextant is in very good overall condition. The lenses are clear, the mirrors have some desilvering, and the filters are fine. The brass has some tarnish and pitting. Bone plaques and scales have cracked and yellowed with age. Measures at farthest points, approx. 18” long x 14 ½” wide x 3” high.

Unmarked, but based on other examples we have seen, most likely British made.  [sl]
