An endearing embrace of a former Civil War nurse, Alice Carey Risely of Columbia, MO and Union veteran W.W Nixon of Jewel, KS.  The two reportedly knew each other 75 years ago and reunited at the final Anniversary commemoration in 1938.  It was ‘deemed’ the last Anniversary, because it became increasingly difficult for veterans to travel and was required they have someone accompany them for, in some cases, the long journey.
