Image is mounted on cream colored stock that has yellowed over the years and exhibits some water stains along its top edge. Upper left corner is chipped. The lower edge of the mount is embossed with “TIPTON’S GETTYSBURG PHOTOGRAPHS, GETTYSBURG, PA.” The size of the mount is approx. 10.00 x 12.00 inches. The actual image size is approx. 7.25 x 8.50. The photo shows the Trinity Lutheran Church in Taneytown, Maryland, which is only a few miles from Gettysburg and along the approach route of the Union Army during the Gettysburg Campaign. The date of construction of the church is not known but it probably dates to after the war. The image is clear but the contrast is light and there is some minor surface dirt. Reverse has some staining and a very nice photographer’s imprint of a mounted cavalryman. [ad]
