CDV album has brown leather cover with embossed design on the front and back. Leather is in fair condition, with some wear all over, but especially on the spine, edges and corners. Leather on spine is torn. Front cover is embossed in gold with the name, “ADDIE”.
Album has an ivory vellum lining on inside of front and back covers. All pages are present and intact. There is a title page labeled, “PHOTOGRAPHS”. The edges of the pages are gold gilt which has retained its brightness. The album closes with two decorative gold colored metal clasps which are still firmly attached.
Album contains 30 images. There is space for 50 images. There are a variety of men, women and children of all ages. Men are in civilian attire. These images are mostly of individuals. There are four lithograph CDV’s of religious topics. A number of the CDVS have Boston backmark, a few with New York City backmarks; remainder have none.
Album measures approx. 5” x 6 ¼” x 2 ¼”.
This is a great album for a collector of Civil War era civilian images. There are a few post-war images as well. [sm]
