Thermoplastic frame meas. approx. 7.75 x 11.75 inches with a recessed panel at center for holding a photograph. Photo shows a woman in a flowing dark dress with her hair up standing by a stylized table. Image looks to date from the 1870’s-1890’s.

Frame is decorated with a raised linear border on inside panel flanked by two cutout Corinthian columns decorated with seated angels at the center point with floral patterns above and below. The bottom has a sea shell pattern at center with a scrolled top and a final at bottom. Frame legs are decorated with linear and geometric designs. Top has a child’s face at center of a recessed shell flanked by scrollwork and flowers and surmounted by a scrolled arch with acorn type finial.

Reverse has a japanned tin plate that swivels to allow access to the photo recess. Forked japanned easel stand is missing but “O” ring for mounting on the wall is present.

Panel on reverse shows wear and dirt from age and storage.  Front decoration is excellent.   [ad]
