This CDV is printed horizontally and shows a wooded glen with a long large wooden building at center. There looks to be an ell coming off the back of the building. There are three or four soldiers posed among the trees with one standing under a sign posted above the door. Unfortunately the sign cannot be read. In the left foreground is what looks to be a large wall tent.
The image is a little light I contrast but clear and clean.
The reverse has a very nice imprint of eagle with upraised wings perched on a US shield. Above this is a very nice period ink inscription that reads “ENGINEER STOREHOUSE ON FOLLY ISLAND S. C.”
Folly Island served as a supply depot for Union forces besieging Charleston, South Carolina. [ad]
