CDV is a three-quarter sitting view of Alpheus Hamblett. He is wearing a dark colored civilian frock coat and vest with a white shirt, cravat and light colored trousers.
The reverse has a photographer’s imprint which reads, “WASHBURN, PHOTOGRAPHER, 100 MERRIMACK STREET, LOWELL, MASS.”.
Image is clear and the contrast is good. Surface has some light dirt from age. Image has yellowed with time.
Alpheus Hamblett was a resident of Lowell, MA where he worked as a stone mason. He enlisted on October 16, 1861 at the age of 39, as a Private and was mustered on October 18 into Co. “A”, 30th MA Infantry. He died of disease on October 5, 1862 at Carrollton, LA. [sm]
