This is a nice image of William W. Roller wearing his officer’s frock. This is a bust view. Mount has had corners clipped. Roller signed the bottom front in ink. Washington photographer’s backmark.
Roller was mustered in on September 20, 1861 as a sergeant in Company A, 64th NY infantry. He was promoted through the ranks up to captain in November of 1863. He was wounded on June 1, 1862 at Fair Oaks and again on May 3, 1863 at Chancellorsville. He was discharged on November 1, 1864. [jet]
