Nice seated view of Naval Surgeon Charles Martin. He wears a dark double-breasted frock coat and trousers.

Image is clear with very good clarity. Mount and paper are good but mount has foxing around the edges. Bottom of mount has pencil ID “DR. CHAS. MARTIN USA” ID is confirmed by identified online image.

Reverse has photographer’s imprint for MARZOCCHINI…LIVORNO. The city of Livorno is on the Mediterranean Coast of Italy near Florence. Reverse also has collector information in pencil. Information states that Martin was commissioned assistant surgeon September 5, 1848, surgeon April 27, 1861, medical inspector March 3, 1871 and medical director October 6, 1873.    [AD]
