CDV is identified as William H. Harlin. He is shown seated wearing a dark double breasted frock coat with cuff stripes and shoulder straps and matching dark trousers.

The image clarity and contrast re good. Mount has been trimmed along the top and bottom edge.

Reverse has photographer’s imprint for R. A. LEWIS…NEW YORK. Bottom has period ink inscription that reads “YOURS ??  WM. H. HARLIN.

William H. Harlin was assigned as assistant surgeon in the 56th New York Militia on July 11, 1864.  And was mustered out on November 6, 1864.

There is no mention of Navy service in his record however he may have served either before or after his time with the 56th New York.     [AD]
