Full standing view of Kesler posed in front of a “camp scene” back drop. He is in uniform with drum. Image retains good detail despite dark stain of photo and mount (most likely from prolonged exposure to cigarette/cigar smoke). Period ink identification on bottom edge of mount. No Photographer’s backmark.

From Philadelphia PA, he was 18 years old when he enlisted on 9/19/1861 as a Musician in Company "K" 11th Mass. Infantry. He wounded 5/31/1864 at Totopotomoy Creek, VA and discharged for disability on 8/25/1864.    [jet] [ph:L]
