Full-standing studio view of officer in dress uniform. He wears a double-breasted frock with dress epaulettes, sash, and sword belt. He holds sword at his side. Clear image with good contrast. Printed graphic "frame" on back with space for photographer's imprint; however it is left empty.
Born in Mifflintown, PA, Cummins was 31 years of age when he enlisted on 8/9/62 as a Lieut. Colonel. On 8/26/62 he was commissioned Field & Staff, 99th OH Infantry. Transferred on 12/31/64 and commissioned into Field & Staff, 50th OH Infantry. Discharged for promotion to Colonel of the 185th OH Infantry on 2/16/65. Mustered out on 9/26/65 at Lexington, KY. Promoted to Brig. General by Brevet on 11/4/65. Cummins died by suicide in 1875 in Denver, CO.
