Image shows a rather young looking 2nd Lieutenant posed leaning against his drawn Model 1850 foot officer’s sword. The subject wears a dark forage cap covered with an oil cloth to protect against the rain. He also wears a dark frock coat and matching dark trousers. The frock coat has buttons that have been tinted gold and shoulder straps that have also been tinted with a gold border and a light blue rank field. The young officer also wears his sword belt with gold tinted rectangular plate over a wine tinted sash. He stands on a printed carpet that has also been tinted red.
Image has excellent clarity and contrast. Paper and mount are good.
Reverse has photographer’s imprint for POWELSON…ROCHESTER, N.Y.
Kind of an eye catching image. [ad]
