CDV is a full seated view of a Union officer wearing a dark double-breasted frock coat and matching trousers. Shoulder straps are visible on the coat but the rank field is not clear enough to discern the subject’s rank. There is also a visible gold braid stripe on his cuff implying that he may be a Naval officer.
Standing next to him, and resting one arm on his shoulder, is a woman wearing a medium colored dress with a small printed pattern on it, a waistbelt and long stemmed bowtie.
Image has browned some with age and shows light surface dirt on the paper and mount. Clarity and contrast are good.
Reverse bears photographer’s mark for F. KINDLER…NEWPORT, R.I. [ad] [ph:L]
