Union case features a raised image called, “Money Musk”, for an old fiddle tune. It shows people dancing as a man plays the fiddle. Floral and fruit border surrounds image. Case shows a small crack at the top right, and the corners show small chips. Hinges and clasps are good.

Case houses two ruby ambrotypes of young men. Both images are under glass and are surrounded by brass mats. Younger man on left has dark hair with no facial hair. He wears a dark colored suit with white shirt and checkered silk cravat. Gold pin is present on cravat, which has been highlighted by the photographer. Gentleman on right has dark hair and facial hair. He wears a dark colored suit with white shirt and a matching checkered silk cravat like the other young man is wearing. He is also wearing a gold pin on his cravat which has been highlighted. Both images are very clear with good contrast. Light oxidation has occurred on the edges of images. Cheeks of both men have been colored pink by the photographer.

The “ruby ambrotype” is printed onto a dark glass support that is red when viewed in transmitted light.

Small notes are present behind each image. Notes read, “UNCLE ABR. HORTON - LEFT SIDE” and “UNCLE CHARLIE SMITH – RIGHT SIDE”.    [sl]
