Image is a three-quarter seated view of an older woman wearing a dark dress and shawl with white undersleeves and a white lace cap seated by a table and resting one hand on a Bible that has a gilt cross on the front.

Clarity and contrast are excellent however there is some discoloration around the edge.

Photo comes with a plain brass mat and decorative stamped brass frame and is housed in a union case with a plain geometric decoration on the outside. Case is in excellent condition.

There is some possibility that the subject may be of African descent.

Image is from the collection of the late William A. Turner. [ad][ph:L]
