This is a very fine image of a seated Confederate soldier in uniform, presumably with his wife. This is a 1/4-plate ambrotype with mat, glass, and wrapped frame; all in a half case.
Soldier wears a military jacket and trousers with stripe. He has wildly curly hair. Woman wears dark dress with waist belt and sash buckle. Contrast is very good.
Accompanied by a lock of reddish-brown hair, found under the image in the case.
A great view of a Confederate soldier and wife. [jet][ph:L]
