NINTH-PLATE TINTYPE OF A REB IN HIS BATTLESHIRT

$595.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 1139-50

Waist-up view of a young Confederate soldier wearing a dark slouch hat pinned up on one side with a gilt button. He wears a light-colored battle shirt with a dark collar and dark front placket with a row of gilt buttons. On each chest is a horizontal pocket trimmed in dark cloth and held closed by two gilt buttons.

Clarity is good but the contrast is darker than is desirable but none the less it is a smart image.

Brass decorative mat is present as is the stamped brass frame. All are in a full leather case with a weak hinge.   [ad] [ph:L]
