OUTSTANDING RARE HALF-PLATE SIZED TINTYPE OF FEDERAL OFFICERS ON LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN

$4,500.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 2021-919

Nice, clear image of five Union officers reclining on the edge of the famous precipice on Lookout Mountain.  All of the officers wear dark slouch hats but there is an array of uniform jackets, two wear frockcoats while two others wear commercial sack coats and one fellow is wearing a shell jacket. The footwear visible is also varied, one subject wears knee length boots while another wears brogans and one wears boots under his trouser legs. In the middle of the group an officer is posed holding a pair of binoculars.

Contrast and clarity are excellent.

Image has the usual decorative brass mat and stamped brass frame. The photograph is housed in an impressive looking Union case with raised oval and rectangle decoration on the exterior. The case is exceptionally clean and free of chips or cracks.

Despite one small dark spot on the brass mat the image does give off a clean and bright appearance both inside and out and would enhance any Civil War collection.  [ad] [ph:L]
