Wonderful full-standing view of a young Union corporal posed leaning against a column. He wears a New York style shell jacket with piped collar, cuffs, cloth shoulder epaulettes and belt loops at his side. Down the front are nine three-piece buttons touched with gilt, most likely they are New York State seal buttons. He also wears a dark forage cap and light trousers with a dark leg stripe. His cheeks are lightly tinted with rose and his corporal stripes have a faint blue tint.
Clarity and contrast are superb. The plate is clean and excellent.
Image comes with a decorative oval brass mat and stamped brass frame housed in an old wood frame. The framed item meas. 5.75 x 7.00 inches. Wood panel on back needs one small nail to help anchor it in place. [AD] [ph:L]
