This is a lovely sixth plate tintype in a great ornate gutta percha frame featuring four gentlemen in civilian dress. The standing gentleman on the left rests his hand on his friend’s shoulder. His pinkie finger dons a ring. The other standing gentleman wears a bowler hat and tie. The two gentlemen seated in front rest their hands on their laps. One wears a pillbox style hat which includes a visor, like the M1895 forage cap. The last gentleman is seated with his vest buttoned at the top; he wears a light-colored jacket, vest, and trousers. The photographer has tinted the sitters’ cheeks.

This image is in good condition with minor cracking to the emulsion.

Image comes housed in a gutta percha frame, which has the upper left corner repaired. It appears to have been broken off and glued back in place. No other breaks or chips are noted. The reverse of the frame has two ring mounts in place to hang the photograph.

This image was once part of the Bill Turner collection of images.   [jet] [ph:L]
