This is a nice full-standing view of an unidentified soldier. He stands with one hand resting on a side table and he holds what may be a Hardee hat in the other. He is wearing a mounted great coat, a style that has the longer (cuff length) cape attached. This coat may have been a private purchase or this could be some militia guy, as the buttons on the coat are not in “regulation” spacing.
A photograph of a woman is propped up on the side table near his hand; perhaps his wife. Buttons gilted, cheeks very lightly tinted. A slight “rub” shows that this image originally had an oval mat.
Case halves are mismatched but fit together perfectly. A very nice half-plate photograph. [jet] [ph:L]
