A view of a standing Union infantryman in uniform. He stands before a plain back drop. The man is wearing a nine-button frock, with leather accoutrements and brass plates all visible. He holds an Enfield rifle with bayonet across his chest and wares a forage cap on his head. The crown of the cap shows an infantry horn insignia with regimental number, possibly an “8”, above. Gilted buttons and insignia cover some details.
Image has good contrast, but slightly dark. Copper mat only, no glass, no case. [jet][ph:L]
