Recovered at Richmond, VA. Shell has light to moderate surface rust, light varnish. Shell has been fired. Original fuse plug intact; no paper fuse remains. Lead sabot is missing a piece measuring approx. 3”. Moderate surface pitting. Old handwritten tag found inserted in fuse plug reads, “Confederate 3” / Reed Shell Found / Near Richmond VA”.
