This is a scarce Confederate carbine tool. In excavated condition, this hand forged iron tool was manufactured at Richmond. For carbines, this is a smaller version of the Richmond musket tool, and constructed of one 2 ¾” long arm with a box-end wrench on the end. A second piece, 2 ¼” long with a screw driver blade at each end is riveted to the bottom of the first.
In “dug” condition this is rust covered overall, it has been coated to preserve. A nice example of a rare Confederate carbine tool. [jet]
