Excavated remains of a tree with a bullet fired into it.  The type of bullet cannot be determined. Piece of wood has been sectioned to expose the lead bullet. Wood measures 13 ½” long x 2” wide x 1 ¼” thick.  Wood remains very solid and stable.

Recovered from Honey Hill, South Carolina, location of the first engagement of the 54th Massachusetts Infantry.   [jet] [ph:L]
