This is part of an excavated Civil War iron sword scabbard.  This is the upper portion containing the throat and two ring mounts.

Measures 14 ½” long overall.  Unusually thin mounts with 1” diameter rings.

Untreated iron remains rusty as is typical for “dug” relics.

Recovered near Fredericksburg, Virginia.    [jet] [PH:L]
