The top of the badge consists of a rectangular brass frame for holding a name tag. The top of the frame has a spread-winged eagle with the number “39” on its chest. The frame has lettering on its border that reads “NATIONAL ENCAMPMENT COLUMBUS, O. AUGUST 1937.” At center bottom of the frame is the cross and crest of The United Spanish War Veterans of America.
Suspended from this is a circular drop with a bust of President William McKinley at center surrounded by the words “OUR COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF.”
The brass frame at top has a pin on the reverse and hanging from it is a red and yellow ribbon that forms a backdrop for the badge with McKinley’s bust on it. [AD]
