Impressive looking badge with a wonderful spread-winged eagle in flight holding a patriotic shield in his talons superimposed over a laurel wreath. Reverse still retains the original pin.
Suspended from this top piece is a light blue ribbon with a full color US flag at center. Ribbon is approx. 2.00 inches long and shows light dirt from age. Attached to the bottom of the ribbon is a colonel of staff shoulder strap signaling a Past Post Commander.
The drop consists of crossed rifle and sword over a cannon barrel and a vertical fouled anchor. Suspended from this is a cross within a wreath. The cross has the Spanish War Veterans crest at center. Beginning at the top and going clockwise around the cross is “CUBA,” PORTO RICO,” “U.S.A.” and “PHILIPPINE ISLANDS” on the obverse. Reverse has “UNITED” superimposed over stars and stripes in the shape of a circle surrounded by a riband containing the various Corps badges relating to the US Army at the time with the arms of the cross each holding a compass direction.
Very attractive item. [ad] [ph:m/L]
