Ribbon is powder blue with a yellow border on each side. Ribbon is folded over and taped down on the reverse. Ribbon is in excellent condition and looks to be original.
Attached to the ribbon is an oak leaf with “SEBASTOPOL” in raised lettering.
Suspended from the ribbon is a yoke with a circular drop. The obverse side has a bust of Queen Victoria in left profile with the wording “VICTORIA REGINA.” While the reverse has an angel bestowing a wreath on a shielded warrior with “CRIMEA” along one side.
The edge of the medal is stamped with “W. L. SMITHNO. 8 COY 6TH BATN. R. ARTY.”
No. 8 Company (previous 10 Company), 6th Battalion Royal Artillery, was sent to the Crimea in May 1855 arriving there on the 28th. The Company was posted to the Left Attack and took part in the siege and fall of Sebastopol. [ad] [ph:L]
