Very nice K-bar type fighting knife with Camillus maker’s mark.
The drawn knife has an overall length of 12.00 inches. The blued blade meas. approx. 7.00 inches in length. It has a clipped point and a 2.75 inch blood groove. The blade surface retains 98% of the original blue finish. True edge is free of nicks and shows no signs of having been resharpened. One side of the ricasso is stamped “CAMILLUS, N.Y.” while the opposite side is marked “U.S.M.C.” Both markings are excellent.
Elliptical iron counterguard is also blued and shows some light surface dirt around the base of the grip. The grip itself is made of ribbed leather with a round iron pommel cap.
Dark brown leather scabbard and frog is in nice used condition with scattered minor scratches, and indentations on is surface. Back of the frog has light crazing. The face of the frog is clearly marked “USMC BOYT 43” in three lines. Body is sewn throughout and reinforced with nine staples. Leather straps and snaps are good. [ad] [ph:m]
