The SA sports badge was issued from 1933 to 1945 as the political version of the badge awarded by the German Olympic Sports Federation and was the idea of SA chief Ernst Rohm. It features a Roman gladius over a Nazi swastika surrounded by an oakleaf wreath. This was awarded only in bronze for physical fitness to members of the SA through 1935 and then in bronze, silver, or gold depending on proficiency to members of all military and paramilitary organizations. It was renamed the Defense Badge in 1939, with Hitler encouraging all able-bodied boys ages 16 and older to compete. The condition is very good, with pin in place, and an even, deep bronze patina.  [sr] [ph:L]
