The body of this shell has heavy to severe pitting with some material loss but its shape is true to the pattern and both the upper and lower bourrelets are visible despite some scale type rust. The fuse hole in the nose has the remains of a wooden fuse plug. There are also the remains of a lathe dog on one side of the nose.
Sabot is a copper ring with three hand-cut flame grooves. Sabot also shows light signs of having been fired.
This projectile was meant for use in a 3.00 inch gun like the Ordnance rifle.
Cleaning will improve the shell.
