This is a nice unissued artillery sponge cover made of heavy canvas. One end is closed and features a finger strap for pulling cover off of the sponge. The open end has a draw string made of heavy twisted cord.  Flat, this piece measures approximately 5” x 9 ½”.  Clearly stenciled in 1/2” tall black letters, “U. S. / 3 IN. / RIFLE”.  All material is strong, all stitching is strong. This is a very nice unissued piece for any artillery collector.  [jet]
