By Thomas Zouch, Prebendary of Durham. Published by Septimus Prowett, London, 1823. 93pp., ills. Full. Blue lea., , measuring 11.5 x 8.5”, with gilt edges, and exquisitely gilt trimmed cover and spine, with raised bands. Exhibits light wear at the extremities. Front cover lightly cracking. Stain on back cover from some type of liquid, resulting in the back cover being somewhat warped. Title page detached, first few pages lightly yellowed. Else VG, and attractive. Renowned as the author of THE COMPLEAT ANGLER. Isaac Walton, 1594-1683, is often invoked as the patron saint of river & stream fly-fishermen. In using frogs as bait, “PIscator” Walton counseled anglers to “use them as if you loved them, hurting them little, so that they may live the longer.” Fine old antiquarian tome. Solid collectible.
