Clarke, Booksellers, Boston.” Dark blue glazed cloth, 8.875 x 5.125”, with gilt cover & spine lettering. Exhibits light wear at the extremities, else VG. Known as the “Harvard” regiment, this unit contained many blue-blooded scions of old Boston, including Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr., later justice of the US Supreme Court. It saw heavy action and took heavy casualties at Ball’s Bluff, Antietam, and Fredericksburg. A marquee union regiment. Collectors copy
