Here is a collection of early Masonic related items being a manual and several cartes de visite.

First is a Macoy’s Masonic Manual (revised edition of 1867). This is a pocket manual of about 300 pages, measuring approximately 3” x 5” x ¾”.  Cover has moderate to heavy wear and weak “hinged” areas at spine and on flap. Some old cellophane tape in place at these weak points. Interior pages are in excellent condition with gold edged pages. Book is presented to Geo. W. Clark by Hiram B. Shaw. Manual contains “the rituals of Freemasonry embraced in the degrees of the lodge, chapter and encampment; embellished with upwards of three hundred engravings, together with forms of Masonic documents, notes, songs, dates, etc.”

Accompanying the manual is a group of cartes de visite and business cards.  There are four cdv photographs of masonic members. Two bear pen & ink names on the back, one has a 2-cent revenue stamp, and one appears to have been mounted on a business card for “David Martin’s Masonic Emporium” in Baltimore. A fifth cdv is of inanimate Masonic symbolic items. The sixth item is a blue business card for a Boston Masonic furnishing store. Several of the cdv mounts have been trimmed.

A great group for the Masonic collector.   [jet]
