Thick volume entitled “THE EIGHTY-SIXTH REGIMENT INDIANA VOLUNTEER INFANTRY. A NARRATIVE OF ITS SERVICES IN THE CIVIL WAR OF 1861-1865.” The book was written by a committee consisting of James A. Barnes, James A. Carnahan and Thomas H. B. McCain. The volume was published in 1895 in Crawfordsville, Indiana.

Dark brown cloth hard covers are embossed with the title in gold on front and spine. Front also has combined 14th and 4th Corps badge in a star. There is some spots of discoloration on the spine.

Interior runs 614 pages with roster. Pages are clean and the binding is good.

The 86th saw action at Stones River, Chickamauga, Missionary Ridge, Dallas, Kennesaw Mountain and Nashville. It lost 249 officers and men killed and died of disease. [ad]
