In full calf, w/red spine label & gilt adornment. Front hinge cracking. Leather exhibits scuffing of covers, and moderate wear at the extremities. Else good plus & attractive.
Baron Von Steuben was the famed Prussian officer who became George Washington’s Inspector General and Chief of Staff; and whose training program greatly improved the performance of the Continental Army. This book, his famous “Regulations” was adopted in 1779 and used by the U.S. Army until 1812, and by the Militia until 1820. During service Von Steuben attained the rank of Major General, retired in America, and lived until 1794.
