Hardcover volume bound in blue cloth with the tile stamped in gold with in a gold bordered box in the upper left hand corner of the front cover. Front cover has a dark stain neat the bottom edge. Cover and spine edges show wear from rubbing and there is some light surface dirt otherwise the covers are good and the binding is strong. The book meas. approx. 11.00 x 7.75 inches.
The full title is “HISTORY OF THE TENTH REGIMENT INDIANA VOLUNTEER INFANTRY, THREE MONTHS AND THREE YEARS ORGANIZATIONS” by James Birney Shaw and published in Lafayette, Indiana in 1912. Volume runs 325 pages several photographs of members of the regiment as well as a few woodcut illustrations. Roster is present.
During its service the regiment saw action at Cheat Mountain, Rich Mountain, Mill Springs, Perryville, Chickamauga, Chattanooga, Dalton, Kennesaw Mountain and Atlanta. The regiment lost 186 officers and men killed and died of wounds and disease. [ad]
