Hardbound volume titled “GENERAL ORDERS AFFECTING THE VOLUNTER FORCE.” Volume was published by the Adjutant General’s Office and printed by the Government Printing Office in Washington, D.C. in 1862. It contains all General Orders issued from May 4, 1861 to December 31, 1862.
The volume is bound in brown cloth with the title impressed at top of the spine. Lower right front cover shows some light damage caused by rodents. The volume meas. approx. 5.00 x 7.25 inches and runs approx. 230 pages.
Written in an indeterminate hand on the first page is “J. F. FIELD.” A former owner has written in modern pencil below “J. F. FIELD ADJUTANT 2ND MASS HEAVY ARTY.” There were several men named J. F. Field in the Union Army. This book may have come from his estate but nothing is known. [ad]
